We’re thrilled to announce that Guest Work Agency’s Director and Founder, Alana Kushnir is the guest curator for Chutzpah: Spirit. Recollection. Self., a new exhibition opening May 1st at the Jewish Museum of Australia.

The title of the exhibition comes from the Yiddish word ‘chutzpah’, which today is embraced as a mark of bold spirit. Chutzpah is a living conversation – one that traverses the personal, the political, the religious and the cultural – to examine how Jewish identity is formed, remembered, questioned and reimagined today.

Chutzpah brings together 10 international and Australian artists and over 20 loaned and newly commissioned pieces, including painting, sculpture, video and installation. The exhibition honours the courage it takes for artists to make work about Jewishness in a time of rising antisemitism, cultural censorship and eroded spaces for open dialogue.

Featured artists Ori Gersht, Elinor Sahm, Navot Miller, Hedy Ritterman, Nina Sanadze, Inbal Nissim, Jordy Kerwick, Joel Mesler, Stephania Windholz Leigh and Allison Zuckerman, offer diverse perspectives shaped by their global experiences from cities like Berlin, Tel Aviv, Melbourne and New York.

Read more about the exhibition and the accompanying public programs here.

The exhibition will be on display from 1 May to 27 July 2025. You can also experience Chutzpah via Bloomberg Connects Digital Guide here.
